NORTH WAZIRISTAN, October 15: Elders of the Uthmanzai tribe held a Jarga in Miran Shah responding to Interior Minister’s statement and declared it unfair to connect attack on Malala with the people of North Waziristan, FRC field reporter learnt.

Jarga was attended by a large number of notables including Malik Qadar Khan Chief of Utmanzai, Malik Mamoor Khan, Malik Haji Darya Jan and Malik Nasrullah.

Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik a few days ago at Karachi airport said, “North Waziristan Operation is under consideration of the government and a final decision in this regard will be taken with joint consultation of the military and civilian government”.

“North Waziristan is the centre of terrorists and links of all the terrorist activities in Pakistan go to the North Waziristan”, Rehman declared.

Although the Jarga condemned the attack on Malala Yosufzai and termed it against the traditions of Pakhtuns but demanded government should not use it a pretext for operation in the North Waziristan agency.

Malik Mammor Khan told FRC, “the whole Waziristan is in deep sorrow over the attack on Malala but the government’s failure to protect Malala should not to be revenged from the people of Waziristan”.

He said the North Waziristan Peace agreement with government is intact and tribal want to abide by the Peace Agreement, adding that “all the military operations in the past were failed and the North Waziristan Operation will too result in killing of innocent people again”.

In the tribal belt women are held with high esteem and no one dares to hurt or kill a woman as it is against the traditions, Jarga maintained.
