LANDIKOTAL: PA Khyber released 17 prisoners in Landikotal and Jamrud before Eid Ul Azha during his two days visit to Landikotal and Jamrud, inaugurated development schemes and inspected progress of different institutions, here on Wednesday, FRC learnt.
While visiting Landikotal and Jarmrud jails, Political Agent Khyber Agency Motahir Zib Khan set free 17 prisoners on compassionate grounds who were involved in minor offences, official sources confirmed.
Political Agent Khyber Agency while talking to local elders and media persons said that assistance of local tribesmen supported a great deal to establish peace in the affected areas of Landikotal and Jamrud.
He said development schemes on a large scale would soon be initiated to facilitate the tribal people of Khyber Agency. The PA also inaugurated a bridge named Ali Masjid and inspected the construction work at Landikotal hospital.
PA Khyber Motahir Zib Khan assured a delegation of local tribesmen called upon him yesterday that soon after Eid the solar panels would be installed in tube wells in Landikotal to cater the water-needs of the people keeping in view the persistent load shedding.
The usage of the substandard material in the construction of the small dams in Loy Shelman will be investigated, he said, and vowed to start Kam Shelman technical college under foolproof security.
PA Khyber in his visit of Torkham border inspected the border where he instructed the local authorities to create new routes so that the mammoth traffic could be managed and controlled in Torkham. Three sharp and dangerous turns would be expanded on Khyber Pass, he promised.
Mr Khan also raided on Jamrud civil hospital where he took action against the absent doctors, quacks and those allegedly involved in selling fake and sub-standard medicines, sources from Jamrud said.
The top administrator of Khyber Agency also checked the performance and role of the Khyber Khasadar Force on various check posts from Jamrud to Torkham border.
